The End Of May Blow Down

Pretty little May left with a monster of a throw down
Our neighborhood of older trees had branches and limbs broken and blown down.

The storm came with hard blinding rain
It came with whirlwinds I hope to never see again

Streets were blocked with trees and debris
Some utility poles came down and there was a fire up  in our neighbor's tree

A limb was hanging on their electrical wires sparking a fire
After several frantic complaints and calls the power was cut and calmed the wires

A few hours of inconvenience was preferable to going up in flames
If I hadn't complained about it to 911 six times we would have been the ones to blame

People kept knocking on our door complaining about the electrical fire
It didn't matter it wasn't our yard, people came to us to do what was required

In the end, neighbors pulled together to clear tree limbs and branches out of the  streets
Delmarva and tree service companies replaced poles and cut away trees which was no small feat

Chain saw and wood chipper engines around the clock could be heard
Massive amounts of branches, limbs, and tree trunks were removed and our community was well served

Some help was free and some reasonably priced
But there was always someone there to lend a hand and give advice

By the grace of God our home and our cars weren't damaged, no cause for alarm
Others weren't so lucky, but no one was physically harmed

It's good to know when disasters threaten to make you feel defeated
God's grace and good neighbors are there to give help when it's needed.
